The length listed in our fit guide is the minimum standard length that will work on your vehicle. If you find these are too long you can use a hack saw to cut roundbars to any custom length (do not use a tubing cutter as it would damage the HDPE coating). The endcaps will conceal any rough edges.
We do not recommend cutting down the Core or JetStream bars because of the way the material is formed it is very difficult to get a clean cut and reinstall the end cap.
Note that the section of bar that extends past a tower can be used to support loads or attach accessories. Be sure to leave at least an inch on each side for the bar end-caps, or two inches for accessories like the BoatLoader, as there is no good way to re-lengthen a bar (though one of our dealers will be glad to sell you a new pair).
The maximum length of a crossbar varies from state to state. Check with your local DMV to learn how far something may overhang the sides of your vehicle.
