Every vehicle will have a maximum dynamic weight limit listed in our FIT GUIDE. This is the maximum weight of your rack system and load that can be safely attached your vehicle while it is in motion.
To calculate how much of load you can carry on your rack you first start with the weight limit listed for your vehicle. For example a vehicle that has a 165 lbs weight limit using baseline towers;
BaseLine Tower set of 4 = 5.2 lbs
Small Core bar pair = 9.00 lbs
2 FrontLoaders = 13 lbs each, 26 lbs total
Total weight = 40.2 lbs
165 lbs limit - 40.2 lbs rack & accessories = 124.8 lbs available load capacity
Note: Be sure to include the weight of any other accessories (ski , bike, boat mounts) attached to the bars the weight of the accessory and the items being carried needs to be included in your calculation above.
The static weight limit can be higher then the dynamic weight. Our maximum static weight rating is 600 lbs.
For custom and unlisted vehicles it is up to the installer to determine the maximum weight for the given application. The dynamic load for the bars should not exceed 165lbs. For more information on custom options click here.
